hiding age/birthday?

Question on the requirement of filling in a birthday when registering for the forum - I can understand that maybe there's a hard and fast age requirement to access some areas of the board, but I was very surprised in the Profile area that there doesn't appear to be a way to hide private information like that.

Am I missing something? I might end up loving y'all to pieces but having my age just... out there feels like I've got my underwear showing.

I agree with this. I also looked for a way to hide my birthdate. It's personally identifying information, and I'd rather it not be out there.

Since it's not possible to opt out individually, I hid it for everybody.
